bleach bypass

Hi there,
I'm shooting a short soon on HDV and then will be adding bleach bypass filters afterwards...but my previous experience of bleach bypass worries me... Everything always turns out way too dark. Should I bump up the exposure a little during shooting to compensate?

Have you any tips for using Magic Bullet and making sure it doesn't turn out too dark? (When I try to compensate by bumping up the brightness it looks washed out, and bumping up the contrast to compensate for that doesn't really help)

Not in my opinion.

If you are post-processing with digital filters (and not doing the actual chemical bleach bypass) then you should shoot your picture "flat" and stylise it in post.

Are you monitoring also on a TV screen? You might find the different gamma actually makes things look OK, even if you can't "see" on the computer monitor. Calibration. I've heard of it.
